I am not pregnant or planning anything so do not worry! I just didn't know which section to put it in I'm going to the doctors with my mum on Friday to talk to the doctor about forms of contraception. I was wondering if anyone knows if certain types will be unavailable to me because of my meds (embrel + mtx)?

Hi Hannah,
Well done for being so sensible about this! Like Mary says, if you tell the doc what meds you are on he should know what is available for you. Good luck, I hope you get something that suits you.
Love, Doreen xx

Try not to worry, Hannah. I'm sure the doctor will know which contraceptive is best for you. Well done for taking this step.
Lots of love Jeanxxxx

RA didn't make any difference to which contraception I had. I was never told I couldn't have a certain type/brand etc. Carol

I went on the Pill at around your age Hannah and tbh, it helped my RA as it made my cycle more regular and also I noticed that I flared around the time of periods and the GP was able to give me a mini pill you take all the month through with no gap.
condoms really are a must these days in addition to other methods.
I have several friends whose daughters have had the annual injection so that if they forget a pill they are not in a panic. 2 of these girls are younger than you and are type 1 diabetics and it was fine for them.
one of my friends has an implant under her skin and it works for 3 yrs !(she has RA) (she has just gone traveling round the world after leaving uni)
it is not my place to say anything to you morally about choosing to have a sexual relationship but for your own sake, make sure it is a choice that you are informed about, feel in no way pressured about and you feel an equal part in. So many of my friends had their first experiences at your age, I know that a lot of people are sexually active from 13 or 14 nowadays but lots of them regret it because it was not all it was cracked up to be and they ended up feeling de valued and I would hate that for you.
there- my mummy bit! lol!
You are so cool going with your mum- I couldnt do that at your age (not brave enough) and went on my own!!
